Alighting
She just sat there staring at me.
No song for me she offered.
We stared at one another until the assassin took my life.
Brittle Sprite
A rustling in the hedge awoke me.
I must have fallen asleep on watch.
I caught a glimpse of them, thorns glistening.
Only then did I feel the small wounds festering along my side.
Fawning
He pranced amongst the 'shrooms.
Flitting about.
Meandering. Carefree.
Chittering Spirit
I saw nothing in the blackness beyond the door,
but something out there had spooked the dogs.
Their baying stopped suddenly.
I heard it then; a soft chittering echoed through the cold night air.
Flower Maiden
Within a shower of leaves she danced.
Mesmerizing. She vanished with the wind.
Only the scent of her blooms remained.
Tree Squeak
These little creatures are shy in nature.
When threatened they to stand perfectly still in a distinctive pose which mimics the markings of a predatory bird.
Some are better at it than others.
The Sisters
The Sisters stood in the archway, their forms constantly moving beneath long robes, twisting around one another.
In unison they turned toward me and smiled.
